Shared Studios · Global We
A dialogue platform for the United Nations, built on the Portal network.
In 2022 the Museum for the United Nations — UN Live — launched Global We: a live dialogue platform built to put normally unheard voices from the global majority in direct conversation with one another. It runs on UN Live–branded shipping containers fitted with the same life-size video and audio as the Portals.
Shared Studios executes it. The platform belongs to UN Live, and the work happens alongside hundreds of local organizations in the portal locations.
What makes it different from our earlier work is what happens after the conversation ends. Sessions are captured and analysed, and the perspectives and emerging themes are carried upward — to the formal leaders of the world, including UN leadership. Each month a single question opens the exchange.
What does home mean to you? What makes you hopeful?

The climate collection
With Cortico — the non-profit that works with the MIT Center for Constructive Communication — UN Live has gathered more than 2,900 recorded experiences and perspectives on climate action, drawn from 25 locations since November 2022. It is the largest recorded climate action conversation assembled to date, and the portals are still running.
